Hello!
Thank you for stopping by. Recently I created this card as part of the Altenew Educators' Something Blue video hop - my very first YouTube hop!
The theme for this video hop was SOMETHING BLUE and was all about celebrating the versatility and beauty of blue in cardmaking 🩵
I often use blue as the main color for my flowers. This time I wanted to switch things around and make stem and foliage blue instead - and also add a blue shade as the final layer on the flowers.
The stencils I use for this card is the Altenew Stencil Art: White Cap Peonies. I started out with the first stencil and the lightest colors in the Nature's Wonders and Delectable Delights ink color families. For the second and third layers i went for the darker tones.
Ink blending with layering stencils is a blast! With the Mini Blending Brushes from Altenew you have the perfect balance between getting even coloring and controlling the ink in smaller areas.
For the last layer of the flowers I made a twist. Instead of adding the darkest colors in the color families I was using I went for a deep blue color from Tranquility ink color familiy. I love how this gives both interest and contrast to the flowers.
It also ties the design together as I used the same colors for the stem and leaves.
For my sentiment I die cut 'Hello' twice from an older Altenew die and adhered the white die cut on top of the light blue - just a little bit off. The sentiment strip below it I ink blended in the same blue color as the stem and the text was heat embossed in white.
Finally I added some light blue splatters and some matching enamel dots.
I hope you enjoyed my card! The hop video is availiable in my new YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/dgm3oTl8vPs
Thank you so much for visiting!
